A Tribute to a Legend

It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the passing of my father, Mr. Robert “Bob” McIntosh. Dad passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the age of 74. To many in our industry, he was a visionary entrepreneur, a trusted business partner, an original co-owner of GeoShack, and a valued board member of Ultara Holdings. To me, he was my mentor, my partner, and my father.

Dad started his entrepreneurial journey in the late 1970s when he co-founded Draycon Equipment in Ontario, Canada, alongside his partner at the time, Jerry De Boer. Together, they revolutionized Ontario’s construction and agricultural drainage markets by bringing Canada’s very first hydraulic pull scraper to market.

That same spirit of innovation helped me build Latec Machine Control into what it is today. As President, I am honoured to carry forward his legacy, values, and vision that he taught me to run a successful company. We will miss him deeply, but his impact on our family and our industry will never be forgotten.
